Most photographs happen to be priceless, as they freeze the moment of the past the be cherished again and again in future. There are some pictures which happens once in a lifetime. While browsing through my collections, I picked two of such. I thought of sharing them, which I treat as very special. Both the photographs were results of an extremely fast reflex action, to capture the rarest of rare frame, that happened incidentally and was probably available for 1/10th of a second, just enough time to press the shutter once ! Had I delayed even for a millisecond, the precious moment would have been lost in oblivion and the picture wouldn’t have been the same.

These two pictures make me feel like Clint Eastwood. If he was fast with guns, and I with my camera !

speed

Frozen Speed

A car passing on the opposite direction in high speed, a plane taking off over a goods vehicle on the service lane , near Bangalore Airport. I actually wanted to capture just the pick-up truck with the plane on top of it, but just when i pressed the shutter this car came and blocked the view ! However, the result was more exciting than expected. The Transparency generated from the high speed and the framing of the pick-up within the window of the speeding car is one in a milllion kinda composition !

pegions

Birds of same feather

Pigeons disrupted by the sound of a phatphati starting outside Jaisalmer Fort, Rajasthan. It was all silent and peaceful when the auto-riskshaw engine started and the loud noise forced hundred of pegions nested in the nooks and crevices of the golden fortress. Within seconds the pigeons were settled and the sky was clear. This was the first time I was able to capture so many birds flying, in one frame.

A black & white version

Both the pictures were taken with Nikon Coolpix 7.1 MP.

Great pics both. Once I was taking the photo of a plane taking off….and then this slow fat lorry came and blocked everything 😦
The Jaisalmer pic can easily become a poster for Sonar Kella II 🙂

~uh~™ : I think it’s photomurphy’s law: whenever you have a good frame, something will appear from nowhere and obstruct it.
I wish I had a better camera, so that i could enlarge the pic 😦

I loved the second one…No matter how many times a shot like this or other is repeated but it always looks refreshing and linked with life…It makes me write-

Zindagi chod aaye, yeh kisi mod pe

Ki jab ki nazar phira ke dekhe, naye mod bhi wahi mud gaye…

Zindagi ko to hum nahi chod paaye

Par uske naye modo se judd gaye…

~uh~™: Great. That’s your poetry ?

Have you tired converting the second one to black and white ?? … I like thr first one for its impulsive nature and the second one for its lack of planned photohraphy … end result on both .. brilliant !!
…………………………..
~uh~™ : No, but i try it now 🙂

Check the Rough Page.

Excellent snaps ….. I loved both, the first one for its improbability and the second for its spontaneity (and liked the B&W more than the colour)!
…………………………………..
~uh~™: Can the probability of the first snap be calculated ?
I toolike the B&W, I have added it to the post now !

9. couchpapaya - Wednesday, 23 September, 2009

love both, but i like the impression of speed in the first. it’s the rarer photo methinks!! where’s the B&W image? i cant see it!
…………………………….
~uh~™: Right, the randomness quotient is higher in the first though with lesser aesthetic quality 🙂
The BW image was on The Rough Page. Added to the post now for convenience.

nice! i think i like the color better because of that blue/black/yellow contrast going on

~uh~™: Now…. let me try the Sepia too !

10. whatsinaname - Monday, 28 September, 2009

wow, the first pic is awesome. What a combo of moving versus standing. Sometimes, bas ek pal defines the outcome.
Just the moment!
……………..
~uh~™ : Right you are
